A Humble Home: The Story Behind Park + Alley

Once upon a time there lived a small, 1957 tri-level home in the heart of Bellevue, WA. The home was dated but well loved, always full of laughter and light. Situated down a long alley driveway and backing up to a community park (hence, Park and Alley), the location was perfect for many generations to run around and play.  In fact, if walls could talk, they would share stories of family parties, birthday celebrations, prom photos, graduations, new babies, and even a wedding reception. This home was my childhood home.

I was the oldest of four kids and the third generation to live in our humble Bellevue home. My father was a blue-collar worker and to this day is the most loyal and hardest working man I know. My mother was the ultimate homemaker (easily comparable to Martha Stewart) and opened an in-home daycare to help provide for the family. My parents scrimped and saved to pay their bills but somehow always made it work. We may not have been able to afford the same luxuries as our schoolmates, but my siblings and I learned important life lessons about work ethic, family values and humility.

The home remained in my family for over 49 years until it was finally time to say goodbye. My parents moved to the "country" and became empty nesters while us kids started our own families and chased our dreams. Consequently, mine took me all the way to Knoxville, TN where I now have the pleasure of raising my two children and operating our brokerage's 2nd location. It has been a very rewarding experience working across two states and I've had the privilege of touring thousands of stunning homes. But I have to admit, no matter how prestigious a street name is or how "luxury" a home may be, my heart still belongs to that ugly peach painted exterior and those mid-century wood-paneled walls of my upbringing.

Park + Alley was named in honor of my childhood home. It represents the "coordinates" of where I grew up and is an endearing reminder of my roots. As the Designated Broker and owner of Park + Alley, it was important to me to create a company with a culture and purpose guided by the same core values described above. Our clients are our family, and no matter where you are in your homeownership journey, our real estate professionals will serve you with integrity, grit and true passion for what we do.

We look forward to helping you dig your roots.
